Prayer that Reaches Heaven

  • ALL THINGS MUST COME TO AN END

A man died, when he realized it, he saw God coming closer with a suitcase in his hand. God said: Alright son its time to go. Surprised the man responded: Now? So soon? I had a lot of plans… I’m sorry but its time to go. What do you have in that suitcase? the man asked. God answered: Your belongings. My belongings? you mean my things, my clothes, my money? God answered: Those things were not yours they belonged to the earth. Is it my memories? the man asked. God answered: those never belonged to you they belonged to Time. Is it my talents?God answered: those were never yours they belonged to the circumstances.

Is it my friends and family? God answered: I’m sorry they were never yours they belonged to the path. Is it my wife and son? God answered: They were never yours they belonged to your heart. Is it my body? God answered: that was never yours it belonged to the dust. Is it my soul? God answered: No that is mine.

Full of fear, the man took the suitcase from god and opened it just to find out the suitcase was empty. With a tear coming down his cheek the man said: I never had anything?? God answered: that is correct, every moment you lived were only yours. Life is just a moment. a moment that belongs to you. For this reason enjoy this time while you have it. Don’t let anything that you think you own stop you from doing so. Live Now …..Live your life Don’t forget to be happy, that is the only thing that matters. Material things and everything else that you fought for stays here. YOU CAN’T TAKE ANYTHING with you! You came in with nothing…

You can’t loose what you never had,
You can’t keep what is not yours,
You can’t hold on to something that doesn’t want to stay.
You only own, what you give

  • ST. JOSEPH PATRON OF A HAPPY DEATH

  • ST. JOSEPH PATRON OF A HAPPY DEATH

It is undeniable that St. Joseph is a special protector of his dying clients and all those in their last agony. This has been experienced by numberless persons who practiced special devotion to St. Joseph during life. At the hour of death, man is subject to untold suffering and anguish. At that supreme moment, every Christian must undergo a terrible trial, upon the final outcome of which depends eternal joy or endless woe. The fury of Hell, the remembrance of past sins, the uncertainty of the future, the pains of death, the terror of the Judgment– all these are sources of untold sufferings. Three reasons why St. Joseph is a special patron of the dying:1) He is the foster father of the Eternal Judge. 2). He is terrible to the demons. 3) His own death was most beautiful, for he died in the arms of Jesus and Mary.

Ven. Mary of Agreda says that before his death St. Joseph experienced a rapture which lasted 24 hours, during which he beheld the Divine Essence, the Face of God, His glory, which Moses had in vain asked to see. Jesus and Mary together closed St. Joseph’s eyes in death and shed tears at his departure. If Jesus wept over Lazarus, how must He have wept over St. Joseph!

THE DEATH OF ST. JOSEPH ✝️

When St. Joseph came out of this ecstasy, his face was shining with heavenly light, and he asked Mary to give him her blessing.
But instead she indicated that Jesus should bless him, which He did.
Then Mary fell on her knees and begged her dying husband to bless her, and after he had done so she kissed his hand tenderly and affectionately. St. Joseph also implored her pardon for all his deficiencies in serving her and requested her prayers in this hour of his death. Then he spoke these last words to her:
“Blessed art thou among all women, Mary! May angels and men praise thee! And may the Name of the Lord be known, adored, and exalted in thee through all the coming ages. I hope to see thee in our heavenly home…”
And turning toward Jesus with profound reverence.
St. Joseph tried in vain to kneel, but the Saviour gently took him in His arms, while Joseph said:
“My Lord and my God, give Thy blessing to Thy servant, and pardon the faults I have committed in Thy service. I give Thee my heartfelt thanks for having chosen me to be the husband of Thy Mother! May Thy Glory be my thanksgiving for all eternity…”
Jesus then lovingly blessed St. Joseph and said:
“My father, rest in peace and in the grace of My eternal Father, and bring to the saints in Limbo the joyful news of the approach of their redemption.”
At these words, in the arms of Jesus, with Mary kneeling and weeping at his feet, in a room brightly lighted by hosts of angels, St. Joseph died a happy and peaceful death.
After Jesus had closed His foster father’s eyes, Mary prepared his body for burial with the help of her angels, and as she did so, God enveloped it in a wonderful light, so that she could see only Joseph’s lifelike face. The body was wrapped in a white shroud and placed in a narrow bier, which was then carried to a fine tomb given to St. Joseph by a rich man. Only Jesus and a few friends formed the funeral procession, together with a great number of resplendent angels.

THE BLESSED VIRGIN SAID TO VEN. MOTHER MARY OF AGREDA:
“The whole human race has much undervalued the privilege and prerogatives conceded to my blessed husband, St. Joseph. I assure you that he is one of the greatly favored personages in the Divine Presence, and he has immense power to stay the arms of divine vengeance. That which my husband asks of the Lord in heaven is granted upon earth, and on his intercession depend many extraordinary favors for men.”

  • Feast of the Holy Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ .

This Feast is found in the Missae pro Aliquibus Locis of the Roman Missal. “The earliest evidence of a feast in honour of the Wounds of Christ comes from the monastery of Fritzlar, Thuringia, where in the fourteenth century a feast was kept on the Friday after the octave of Corpus Christi. The Office was rhythmical (Dreves, “Anal. hymnica”, XXIV, 20; Grotefend, “Zeitrechnung”, II, 1, 115).
In the fifteenth century it had spread to different countries, to Salisbury (England), Huesca and Jaca (Spain), Vienna, and Tours, and was included in the Breviaries of the Carmelites, Franciscans, Dominicans, and other orders (Dreves, op. cit., XXIV, XL, XLII).

The Feast of the Five Wounds, celebrated since the Middle Ages at Evora and elsewhere in Portugal on 6 February (at Lisbon on the Friday after Ash-Wednesday) is of historical interest. It commemorates the founding of the Portuguese kingdom in 1139, when, before the battle on the plains of Ourique, Christ appeared to Alfonso Henriquez, promising victory over the Moors and commanding him to insert into the coat of arms of the new kingdom the emblem of the Five Wounds (“Propr. Portugalliae” in Weiss, “Weltgeschichte”, III, 251).

This feast is celebrated today in all Portuguese-speaking countries. The Proprium of Venice of 1766, which contains perhaps the earliest series of movable feasts in honour of Christ’s Passion, has the Feast of the Five Wounds on the second Sunday in March; it was granted in 1809 to Leghorn for the Friday after Ash-Wednesday, on which day it is still kept in many dioceses of Tuscany, and elsewhere (Mexico). Since 1831, when the feasts in honour of the Passion were adopted at Rome by the Passionists and the city, this feast was assigned to the Friday after the third Sunday in Lent.

  • “12 SIGNS GIVEN TO ST. PADRE PIO BY JESUS ABOUT THE END OF THE WORLD”

Not many know that Padre Pio among so many gifts had a very special one, that of prophecy and the Lord Jesus Christ himself communicated with him, and in a letter of 1959 addressed to his superior, Padre Pio tells the revelation that Jesus made about him. World’s End.
The epistle, attributed to Padre Pio, is quite long, full of messages, so we will only take an extract with 12 messages taken from the book by Renzo Baschera “I grandi profeti”

    1. The world is walking in ruins. Men have abandoned the right path to venture on roads that end in the desert of violence … If they do not drink from the source of humility, charity and love, it will be a catastrophe.

    2. Terrible things will come. I can no longer intercede for men. Divine piety is about to end. Man had been created to love life, and ended up destroying life …

    3. When the world was entrusted to man, it was a garden. Man has turned it into an atmosphere full of poisons. Nothing now serves to purify the house of man. A deep work is necessary, which can only come from heaven.

    4. Prepare to live three days in total darkness. These three days are very close … And in these days they will remain as dead without eating or drinking. Then the light will return. But many will be the men who will not see it anymore.

    5. Many people will escape scared. It will run without a goal. They will say that there is salvation to the east and people will run to the east, but it will fall on a cliff. They will say that to the west there is salvation and people will run to the west, but they will fall into a furnace.

    6. The earth will tremble and the panic will be great … The Earth is sick. The earthquake will be like a snake: they will feel it crawling everywhere. And many stones will fall. And many men will perish.

    7. You are like ants, because the time will come when men will take their eyes off for a crumb of bread. Businesses will be looted, warehouses will be taken in assault and destroyed. Poor will be one who in those dark days will be without a candle, without a jug of water and without the necessary for three months.

    8. A land will disappear … a great land. A country will be erased forever from geographical maps … And with it history, wealth and men will be dragged into the mud.

    9. The love of man for man has become an empty word. How can you expect Jesus to love you, if you do not even love those who eat at your own table? … Of the wrath of God men of science will not be forgiven, but men of heart.

    10. I’m desperate … I do not know what to do for humanity to repent. If you continue on this path, the tremendous wrath of God will be unleashed like a tremendous thunderbolt.

    11. A meteorite will fall on the earth and everything will shine. It will be a disaster, much worse than a war. Many things will be canceled. And this will be one of the signs …

    12. Men will live a tragic experience. Many will be overwhelmed by the river, many will be burned by fire, many will be buried by poisons … But I will stay close to the pure of heart.

  • TO AVOID PURGATORY, DO AS FOLLOWS.

    1. In every prayer you say, every Latin Mass you hear, every Holy Communion you receive (from a validly ordained priest) every good work you perform, have the express intention of imploring God to grant you a “holy and happy death and no Purgatory”. Surely God will hear a prayer said with such confidence and perseverance.

    2. Always aspire to do God’s will. It is in every sense the best for you. When you do or seek anything that is not God’s will you are sure to suffer. Say fervently, therefore, each time you recite the Our Father: “Thy will be done.”

    3. Accept all the sufferings, sorrows, pains, and disappointments of life, be they great or small: ill health, loss of goods, the death of your dear ones, heat or cold, rain or sunshine, as coming from God. Bear them calmly and patiently for the love of Him and in penance for your sins. Of course one may use all his efforts to ward off trouble and pain, but when one cannot avoid them let him bear them manfully. Impatience and revolt make sufferings vastly greater and more difficult to bear.

    4. Christ’s life and actions are so many lessons for us to imitate. The greatest act in His life was His Passion. As He had a Passion, so each one of us has a passion. Our passion consists of the sufferings and labors of every day. The penance God imposed on man for sin was to gain his bread in the sweat of his brow. Therefore, let us do our work, accept its disappointments and hardships, and bear our pains in union with the Passion of Christ. We gain more merit by a little pain than by years of pleasure.

    5. Forgive all injuries and offenses, for, in proportion as we forgive others, God forgives us.

    6. Avoid mortal sins and deliberate venial sins and break off all bad habits. Then it will be relatively easy to satisfy God’s justice for sins of frailty. Above all, avoid sins against charity and chastity, whether in thoughts, word, or deed, for these sins|and the expiation for them| is the reason why many souls are detained in Purgatory for long years.

    7. If afraid of doing much, do many little things, the act of kindness and charity,* give the alms you can, cultivate regularity of life, the method in work, and punctuality in the performance of duty; don’t grumble or complain when things are not as you please; don’t censure and complain of others; never refuse to do a favor to others when it is possible. These and suchlike little acts are splendid penance.

    8. Do all in your power for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Pray for them constantly, get others to do so, join the Association of the Holy Souls and ask all those you know to do likewise. The Holy Souls will repay you most generously.

    9. There is no way more powerful of obtaining from God the holiest and happy death than by weekly Confession, daily Mass, and daily Communion.

    10. A daily visit to the Blessed Sacrament – it need only be three or four minutes – is an easy way of obtaining the same grace. Kneeling in the presence of Jesus with eyes fixed on the Tabernacle, sure that He is looking at us, let us for a few minutes repeat some little prayer like these: “My Jesus, mercy!” “My Jesus, pity me, a sinner.” “My Jesus, I love Thee.” “My Jesus, give me a happy death.”

*St. Peter tells us, “But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity converteth a multitude of sins” (1 Ptr 4:8).

  • Perpetual Succour Of Our Lady Bombay India

    EXPLANATION OF THE PICTURE
The picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour belongs to the group of Passion icons of the 15th century.

These paintings are characterized by the symbols of the passion and the austere features of the Madonna and the Child.

Around the crowned head of the Madonna are the words “Mother of God”.

On both sides are the two archangels Michael and Gabriel with their respective names inscribe above their head and holding the instruments of the Passion: St.Michael holding the spear and the sponge and St.Gabriel the Cross.

At the sight of the Cross the Child Jesus is stuck by fear his feet strike each other and knock off a struck by fear his feet strike each other and knock off a sandal from this foot and he clings to this mother for support.

The features of the Madonna are gave conveying a message of hope and an assurance of help to all those who in identical circumstances will appeal to her for help.

These is also a plea in her eyes: do not hurt my Son more by sin and I will help you by his goodness.

Reflection on the Icon – Contemplating the Archangel Michael Mother of Perpetual Help, on your right, at the level of your shoulders, we see the Archangel Michael, leader of the celestial armies and zealous defender of the Lord’s glory.

He reminds us that only God is Lord of the Universe and that His Kingdom is a kingdom of justice, love and peace.

The Archangel holds a sponge and a lance in the folds of his green mantel. With the sponge, the lips of your dying Son were moistened as His mouth and throat burned with thirst.

With the lance, His side was pierced and from it flowed water and blood. But your Son did not die a failure; on the third day His Heavenly Father raised Him up.

From then on, the lance, the sponge and the cross have become the symbols of Jesus’ victory over sin and death.

What were signs of disgrace are now symbols of triumph. O Mother of Perpetual Help, give us faith in the power of your Son and in the purifying and restoring power of his sacred blood.

He gave his life for everyone because his strength was anchored in love.

  • GOD WILLS OUR GOOD

Form the habit of offering yourself frequently to God by saying, “My God, behold me in thy presence; do with me and all that I have as thou pleasest.”

This was the constant practice of St. Teresa. At least fifty times a day she offered herself to God, placing herself at his entire disposition and good pleasure.

How fortunate you, kind reader, if you too act thus! You will surely become a saint. Your life will be calm and peaceful; your death will be happy. At death all our hope of salvation will come from the testimony of our conscience as to whether or not we are dying resigned to God’s will. If during life we have embraced everything as coming from God’s hands, and if at death we embrace death in fulfillment of God’s holy will, we shall certainly save our souls and die the death of saints.

Let us then abandon everything to God’s good pleasure, because being infinitely wise, he knows what is best for us; and being all-good and all-loving — having given his life for us — he wills what is best for us. Let us, as St. Basil counsels us, rest secure in the conviction that beyond the possibility of a doubt, God works to effect our welfare, infinitely better than we could ever hope to accomplish or desire it ourselves.

  • This Prayer for Daily Neglects, as it is best known, invites us to offer God the Father the Sacred Heart of his Divine Son, as we read below, in reparation for our sins. The third petition brings to mind the Penitential Rite at Mass.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.

First — To expiate all the sins I have committed this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Second — To purify the good I have done poorly this day and during all my life. Glory Be, etc.

Third — To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and all my life. Glory Be, etc.

Some books note concerning this Prayer for Daily Neglects that a Poor Clare nun claimed to have gone directly to Heaven upon her death, skipping purgatory completely through this prayer! (Editors hasten to add that this prayer is not meant to replace confession, however!)

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, pictured at right, championed devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the 17th century after our Lord showed her His Sacred Heart burning with tremendous love for us.

Faithful Catholics around the world practice this devotion acknowledging His great love through acts of adoration (such as in visiting Him in a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament and in frequent Communion, especially on the First Friday of each month) and in prayers and reparation for offenses against His Sacred Heart.

While the Prayer for Daily Neglects is not specifically part of a devotion, it movingly refers to our Lord’s Sacred Heart as an offering of love we can make for our sins, suggestive of His offering of Himself at Calvary in His Passion!

Clearly this prayer gives us a proper spirit of penitence and humility before God the Father, which can also draw us closer to His Son. As St. Margaret Mary once wrote “consider often that it is only the humble of heart that can enter into the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, converse with Him, love Him and be loved by Him.”

  • John 4:5–7 Jesus came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, tired from his journey, sat down there at the well. It was about noon. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”

Today, throughout the world, Catholic liturgies will celebrate the first of three Scrutinies of those adults who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. The word “scrutiny” comes from the Latin word scrutari which means an inquiry, close examination or search of something. It originally referred to rummaging through rubbish so as to find something of value. In a sense, this is what God does with all of us. When we first turn to Him, He sorts through the disorder of our fallen human nature and our sins so as to point to the goodness and beauty of the child He created. As for the liturgical rite that will be celebrated in churches throughout the world today, the Right of Christian Initiation of Adults describes it as follows: “The scrutinies are meant to uncover, and then heal all that is weak, defective, or sinful in the hearts of the elect; to bring out, then strengthen all that is upright, strong, and good” (#141). The Gospel story we read today depicts this action beautifully. It is the long and inspiring story of the woman at the well. This story is filled with symbolism, much of which the casual reader could easily miss.

To begin, it is important to prayerfully imagine the scene. Jesus was all alone sitting next to Jacob’s Well around noon. Few women would come to the well at that time of day due to the heat. But this woman came at this time because she knew others would not be around. She was a sinner, and many of the other women of the town knew it. Therefore, in an attempt to avoid them and avoid feeling shame, she came at a time when she could avoid the other women. So the first thing to consider is the suffering this woman was enduring because of her shame and embarrassment over her sinful life.

As she approached the well, she was surprised to hear Jesus ask her for a drink. She was a Samaritan. Jews generally considered Samaritans as ritually unclean. For that reason, Jews would not drink from their vessels. But Jesus broke this unholy custom and looked at her as a daughter of God with innate dignity and value as He engaged her in conversation.

Within the heat of the day, Jesus spoke lovingly to this woman and said, “Give me a drink.” Saint Augustine states that, symbolically speaking, Jesus thirsted for her soul, for her salvation. He longed to give her the grace soon to be won through His Cross. Her willing reception of this gift would also bring satiation to the Heart of our Lord. Jesus didn’t dwell upon her past; He knew all about it. He could read her soul. All He wanted to do was to rummage through the sin and rubbish that was cluttering her soul so as to discover her dignity within. If she were to allow Jesus to offer her this mercy, not only would she receive true Living Water to quench her spiritual thirst, she would also satiate the spiritual thirst in the soul of our Lord that could only be satiated by the dispensing of His mercy.

As we celebrate the Scrutinies this Sunday, reflect upon this woman at the well. First, she is a symbol of every person coming to faith in Christ and preparing for the Living Water of Baptism this Easter. But she is also a symbol of your own soul, to the extent that it has become cluttered with the rubbish of sin and disorder. Do not let shame, fear or a sense of unworthiness deter us from engaging in this same conversation with our Lord. Hear Him say to us that He thirsts for us and longs to be satiated by the sacred act of the ongoing bestowal of His Divine Mercy, poured forth through the Living Water superabundantly given to us at your baptism.

My thirsting Lord, You see me, peer deeply into my soul, see all the filth of sin and disorder and love me anyway. As You spoke to this woman at the well, so You also speak to me, asking me to satiate Your thirst by being open to Your mercy. I do open myself to You, dear Lord, and pray that Your Living Water will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Jesus, I trust in You.
